UN report on human rights in Iran politically motivated: Spokesman
EghtesadOnline: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s report on human rights in Iran is invalid and politically motivated, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Wednesday.
Qasemi noted that the UN secretary general's report on human rights in Iran is basically wrong and invalid, according to IRNA.
The UN secretary general report is unfair, unjust and politically motivated and it has been devised by certain states to put Iran under pressure, the official added.
The report by the UN secretary general has no reliable source, the foreign ministry spokesman said.
Iran is committed to enhance the civil rights for its civilians regardless of the political games, Qasemi noted.
The spokesman underlined that the UN report has not included Iran’s major challenges including the country's fight against organized drug trafficking and also the oppressive sanctions.
The double standard approach adopted by the UN towards human rights and its silence towards killing the innocent women and children in Yemen is disappointing, he added.
