Co-op with Southeast Asia, important for Iran's economy: Diplomat
EghtesadOnline: Director General of Iran's Foreign Ministry Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau Mahmoud Farazandeh has said that cooperation with the countries in the Southeast Asia is important for the future of the country's economy.
Speaking to IRNA on Sunday, Farazandeh who had once served as the head of Iran's mission in Indonesia, said that President Hassan Rouhani's ongoing tour to three Southeast Asian countries is an indication of the great significance Tehran gives to promote its relations with that region in all aspects.
President Rouhani started his Southeast Asian tour on October 5 by flying to Vietnam. At the ed of his three-day visit to Hanoi, President Rouhani left the Vietnamese capital for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Iranian President and his entourage including Farazandeh, are currently in Thailand at the last leg of his tour to Southeast Asia.
According to Farazandeh, world is divided into two spheres. One part includes management of trade and industry which also possesses technology. It is more seen in the West, and the other part includes production, dynamism and innovation which is seen in the East.
While promoting its relations with other countries of the world, Iran is mostly focused on the second part, Farazandeh stressed.
He further said that lifting the anti-Iran sanctions in January have removed the obstacles on the way of Iran's ties with other countries, particularly in the Southeast Asia region.
