Malaysian firms urged to invest in Iran's oil industry

EghtesadOnline: Iranian Petrolum Minister Bijan Zangeneh said Malaysian firms are interested in investing in Iran's oil industry, adding that Iran welcomes foreign investment.

Speaking in a meeting with Malaysia's Minister for International Trade and Industry Mustapa Mohamed, Zangeneh said that Iran welcomes Malaysian firms including PETRONAS Company which has had cooperation with Iran for years. 

PETRONAS Company has operational teams in both upstream and downstream industries, reports IRNA.

In the wake of President Hassan Rouhani's trip to Kuala Lumpur during the last two weeks, Mustapa Mohamed heading an economic delegation from Malaysia arrived in Tehran on Friday to expand ties with Iran.

Mustapa Mohamed, who is the chairman of Iran-Malaysia Joint Economic Commission, is supposed to take part in a conference in Iran's Chamber of Commerce to present his ideas on the necessity of developing commercial ties and economic cooperation between private sectors.
