Nuclear energy, symbol of glory: AEOI head
EghtesadOnline: Nuclear energy has turned into a symbol of glory and the nation's dignity, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said here Sunday.
Nuclear energy is the symbol of motto 'We Can,' Salehi said at a local meeting here.
The Westerners had thought that Iran wants to use its nuclear achievements for the non-peaceful purposes, so they put a lot of pressures on the country and imposed many sanctions and restrictions, IRNA quoted Salehi as saying.
But, the Iranian nation's patience and power directed them to the table of negotiations, he said, adding the situation then changed from confrontation to interaction.
Salehi noted that certain regional countries are jealous of Islamic Iran's nuclear achievements.
He further described Iran's achievements gained in the area of peaceful nuclear energy as valuable.
Iran and the six world powers- US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany- reached a landmark nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in July, 2015.
'Implementation Day' of the deal was announced in January, 2016, as the anti-Iran sanctions were lifted after Iran's peaceful nuclear program was verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
