New platform in South Pars to produce 1b cubic feet of gas daily

EghtesadOnline: An official with Petroleum Ministry announced that a new platform in phase 21 of South Pars gas field with capacity of producing 1 billion cubic feet of gas per day has become operational.

South Pars Gas Field as the biggest independent gas field in the world with 34.2 trillion cubic meters of recoverable gas owns 19% of world's total gas reserves. 

It shares its north dome with Qatar, according to IRNA.

The Iranian section reserves are estimated to be 13.3 trillion cubic meters and 19 billion barrels of gas condensates (9 billion recoverable barrels). 

Operator of the South Pars gas field phases 20 and 21 Alireza Ebadi said that after opening well No. 1, the gas flare of the phase 21 has already been lit.

He said that the process of production and transfer of this platform to onshore refineries will start soon.

The platform of Phase 21, weighing 2,700 tons, was installed on July 29, 2016.

Ebadi noted that once all wells are inaugurated, 28.4 million cubic meters of gas will be extracted from the platform per day. 

Noting that the gas produces in phase 21 will be transferred to refineries in days; he said the testing procedures of offshore and onshore pipelines are in final stages.
