Azeri president calls for enforcing lower tariffs to boost trade
EghtesadOnline: Azeri President Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday called for enforcing lower tariffs to boost trade between Iran and the Azeri Republic.
President Aliyev made the remarks in a meeting with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi
According to IRNA, the Iranian minister is currently on a visit to Azerbaijan to attend the 29th Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technology Exhibition and Conference (Bakutel 2016).
During the meeting with the Azeri president, Vaezi recalled negotiations of the three presidents of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia in Baku, expressing hope that the second round of the tripartite talks of the presidents due to be held in Tehran will be fruitful.
He said that Iran and Azerbaijan have cooperation on different areas, including agriculture, industry, transportation and border security, noting that the next round of Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Commission session will be held in Azerbaijan next month.
The Azeri president, for his part, expressed pleasure with enhanced relations between Iran and Azerbaijan as a sign of deep friendship between the two countries.
Aliyev welcomed the implementation of a project joining railways of Iran and Azerbaijan, expressing hope that Astara-Rasht railway will be constructed soon.
He said that he was pleased with 75 percent growth in trade between Iran and Azerbaijan in comparison to figures from the preceding year.
The Azeri president said that the goods listed for lower tariffs between Iran and Azerbaijan must include more items.
