Tehran to Host International Carpet Expo
EghtesadOnline: The Ninth International Exhibition of Floorings, Moquette, Machine-Made Carpets and Related Industries is scheduled for September 4 to 7 in Tehran’s International Fairground.
More than 120 companies from Iran and foreign countries, including Turkey, China and Taiwan, are expected to participate in the event to showcase their latest products, ILNA reported.
The nominal capacity of machine-made carpet production in the country is 120 million square meters per year and production amounts to 80 million square meters, of which 50 million square meters are domestically used and the rest is exported, according to Financial Tribune.
“Around $74 million worth of machine-woven carpets were exported from Iran to Central Asia, Europe, Australia and neighboring countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21-June 21),” deputy minister of industries, mining and trade, Golnar Nassrollahi, said.
At present, Iran has nearly 900 machine-woven carpet production units.
About 55,500 tons of machine-woven carpets worth $306.5 million were exported in the last Iranian year (March 2016-17), indicating a 4.3% rise in weight and 8.9% decrease in value year-on-year.
