Entering 17 int'l shipping lines to Iran's waters in post JCPOA
EghtesadOnline: Deputy Head of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) for technical, commercial affairs Amir Saman Torabi-zadeh announced on Monday that 17 international shipping lines have entered Iranian waters and ports in post JCPOA era and said that container line between Asia and Europe will be launched in near future.
He added that the shipping lines account for half of Iran's container market, according to IRNA.
Before JCPOA, IRISL carried 85 percent of country's consignments, but today there are more competitors and the vacuum is filled by increase of 'tone-mile' in the sector of bulk and international market.
Torabi-zadeh said last year most of container companies lost a lot, but IRISL had noticeable profits.
IRISL by having more than 150 ships with capacity of more than 5.2 million tons is one of the largest shipping line companies in the world.
