US attempts to divert attention from Saudi crimes show its complicity in war against Yemen
EghtesadOnline: Iran has said that US complicity in Saudi Arabia’s war on Yemen is proven by its attempts to divert attention away from Riyadh’s atrocities in the country.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi made the remarks early on Sunday while also rejecting the US’ allegations that Tehran was in violation of a UNSC resolution.
He made the remarks in reaction to a statement released by Washington which hailed Saudi Arabia’s reopening of Yemen’s Sana’a airport and the port city of Hudaydah, PressTV reported.
“Without a doubt the White House’s statement shows and proves the US’s responsibly in Saudi Arabia’s crimes against Yemen,” Qassemi said.
The statement also claimed that Iran was in violation of UN Security Council Resolutions 2216 and 2231 by supporting Yemen’s Ansarullah forces.
Qassemi stressed that Iran had no military ties with Yemen and that Sana’a’s missile capabilities were a domestic issue.
“On multiple occasions we have announced that Iran has no military ties with Yemen and that the country’s defense and missile capability is solely an internal issue,” he noted.
The ports of Sana’a and Hudaydah were reopened for the first time after November 6, Saudi Arabia announced that it was shutting down Yemen’s air, sea, and land borders, after Yemeni fighters targeted an international airport near the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with a cruise missile.
Saudi Arabia has been incessantly pounding Yemen since March 2015 in an attempt to crush the Houthi Ansarullah movement and reinstate former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a staunch ally of the Riyadh regime, which has failed to fulfill the objectives of its campaign.
