Iranian handicrafts exhibition opened in Seoul
EghtesadOnline: The exhibition of Iranian handicrafts was opened in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.
The event, titled “Amazing Hands: Craft Art from Iran” was opened November 23at the Korea Foundation Gallery in central Seoul.
According to ISNA, the Exhibition will run for four days.
It was arranged to commemorate the Year of Korea-Iran Cultural Exchange 2017 and hosted by the South Korean ministry of foreign affairs and the Iranian cultural heritage, handicrafts and tourism organization.
About 100 handicraft works have been displayed, including enamel-decorated bowls and jugs, traditional hand-crafted Iranian robes, stonework, glasswork, ceramics, tiles and mosaic and metalwork inscribed with ornate Iranian patterns.
Handicrafts exports make up a large part of Iran’s non-oil exports, earning over $250 million from March through June (the first four months of the Iranian calendar). The province of Isfahan, 340 kilometers south of the capital Tehran, is the center of the nation’s handicrafts industry, and was named a World Crafts City in September 2015 by UNESCO’s World Crafts Council.
