46% Rise in Kish Port Throughput
EghtesadOnline: More than 2.66 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in Kish Port in southern Iran during the 11 months to Feb. 19, registering a 46% increase compared with the corresponding period of last year.
This was announced by director general of Kish Island Ports and Maritime Organization, Ahmad Shahriari, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development’s news portal reported. “Non-oil goods accounted for close to 2.35 million tons of the total sum,” he said. Over 13,905 vessels entered the southern port during the period, registering a 19% rise compared with the similar period of last year. More than 656 of these vessels weighed over 1,000 tons. Located in the Persian Gulf off the southern coast of Iran and part of Hormozgan Province, the 91.5-square-kilometer Kish resort island enjoys free trade zone status, Financial Tribune reported.
