Bushehr Oil Storage Tanks to Come on Stream by March 2019

“Notwithstanding the considerable progress in the project, the remaining sections are time-consuming. However, we hope the plan would become fully operational by March,” Touraj Dehqani, the managing director of Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC), told Shana. 

Referring to technical and legal problems hindering the plan’s development, Dehqani called for eliminating the problems and accelerating the pace of development.   According to the report, the plan aims to increase and stabilize oil production, in addition to cushioning the effects of daily output fluctuations due to operational problems.

Two 1-million-barrel oil storage tanks as well as four 500,000-barrel storage units are planned to be built in Goureh Oil Terminal. Plans call for laying 1,000 kilometers of a 42-inch pipeline from the city of Goureh to Jask Port in the southern Hormozgan Province. PEDEC will manage the pipeline project with the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company's consultancy. According to NIOEC’s Managing Ddirector Hamid Sharif-Razi, mega crude oil tanks in Jask will have the capacity of storing up to 30 million barrels of crude oil. "The tanks are projected to store 10 million barrels in the first phase, which could increase to 30 million later," Financial Tribune quoted him as saying.

About Bahregan oil region in the Persian Gulf, which awaits recovery measures to reach their potential output, Dehqani noted that an oil pipeline delivers crude from the West Karun Block to Bahregan without any problem. 

"The capacity of pumping station in West Karun is due to be increased further, which raises oil transfer capacity to Bahregan," he said. Noureddine Shahnazi-Zadeh, PEDEC’s former chief executive director, told ISNA in February that the station’s capacity will be increased to 1.2 million barrels per day from the current 750,000 bpd.
