Non-Oil Exports From Iran’s Biggest Container Port Rise 2.6%
EghtesadOnline: More than 11.99 million tons of non-oil goods were exported from Shahid Rajaee Port in the southern Hormozgan Province during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21-July 22), registering a 2.6% increase compared with the similar period of last year.
According to director general of Hormozgan Province Ports and Maritime Organization, Allah-Morad Afifipour, exports of oil products during the same period amounted to over 2.71 million tons, showing a 2.5% rise year-on-year, the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development reported.
More than 26.27 million tons of oil and non-oil goods were loaded and unloaded in Shahid Rajaee Port over the period.
Over the four-month period, 1,328 vessels docked at the port to register a 2.4% increase YOY, of which 1,122 weighed more than 1,000 tons, according to Financial Tribune.
Located 23 kilometers west of the port city of Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan Province, Shahid Rajaee Port is Iran’s biggest container port at the mouth of the Strait of Hormuz. Over half of Iran’s commercial trading is carried out at Shahid Rajaee. The port complex also accounts for over 85% of all container throughput in the country.
