Iron Ore Concentrate Up 19%

EghtesadOnline: A total of 18.42 million tons of iron ore concentrate were produced in Iran during the first five months of the current fiscal year (March 21-August 22) to register a 19% growth compared with last year’s similar period.

According to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization’s latest report, Golgohar Mining and Industrial Complex accounted for 6.61 million tons of the total output, followed by Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Complex with 3.72 million tons, Iran Central Iron Ore Company with 2.26 million tons, Middle East Mines and Mining Industries Development Holding Company with 2.09 million tons, Goharzamin Iron Ore Company with 1.83 million tons, Opal Parsian Sangan with 1.83 million tons and National Development Company with 456,959 tons.

Production of granulated iron during the same period stood at 2.46 million tons, up 25% year-on-year.

Pellet output hit 17.67 million tons, up 38% YOY. Golgohar was the largest producer with 5.17 million tons, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company with 3.23 million tons, Khouzestan Steel Company with 2.87 million tons, MIDHCO with 2.08 million, Opal Parsian Sangan with 1.73 million tons, Chadormalu with 1.39 million tons and Khorasan Steel Company with 193,721 tons.

Production of direct-reduced iron stood at 8.98 million tons, up 14% YOY. Mobarakeh had the lion’s share with 2.99 million tons, followed by KSC with 1.51 million tons, Hormozgan Steel Company with 748,547 tons, South Kaveh Steel Company with 637,592 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 529,841 tons, Saba Steel Complex with 465,373 tons and MIDHCO with 376,089 tons.

Ghadir Iron and Steel Company produced 344,931 tons of DRI, Sabzevar Steel Company 299,959 tons, Mianeh Steel Complex 296,229 tons, Shadegan Steel Complex 295,395 tons, Sefiddasht Steel Company 219,435 tons and Saba Steel 174,411 tons.

From the above raw material, a total of 7.85 million tons of slab, bloom, billet and ingot were produced during the period, registering a rise of 15% YOY. 

Mobarakeh Steel Company, with its subsidiaries Saba and Hormozgan Steel, was the biggest producer with 3.94 million tons. KSC came next with 1.59 million tons, followed by ESCO with 942,837 tons, South Kaveh Steel Company with 438,029 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 402,336 tons, Chadormalu Steel Company with 357,427 tons and Iran Alloy Steel Company with 172,286 tons.

All producers posted growth for the period, with the exception of IASCO whose output dropped 7%. 

Moreover, 4.63 million tons of finished steel products, including hot- and cold-rolled coils, rebar, beams, pipes, wide and galvanized sheets were produced during the period, marking a growth of 8% YOY. 

MSC and its subsidiary Saba Steel had the largest share of production with 2.83 million tons, followed by ESCO with 911,073 tons, Oxin Steel Company with 307,759 tons, Khorasan Steel Company with 222,615 tons, Azarbaijan Steel Company with 109,591 tons, IASCO with 98,479 tons, Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Automotive Sheet Company with 68.359 tons, Ahvaz Rolling and Pipe Manufacturing Company with 53,954 tons and INSIG with 3,394 tons, according to Financial Tribune.
