EghtesadOnline: The Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran has prevented the import of 5,058 tons of non-standard goods in the first half of the current fiscal year (March 21-Sept. 22), 35% lower than in the same period of last year.

The announcement was made by Taqi Taqipour, director of the institute's Exports and Imports Quality Control Department, IRNA reported.

Citing their lack of compliance with Iran’s standards guidelines and quality requirements, Taqipour said 61% of these imports originated from China, 9% from the UAE, 13% from Asia (apart from China), 13% from Europe and 4% were from Australia.

"Rice, cocoa powder, cooking oil and butter, electrical devices, toys, lamps, electric motor, bolts and screws, tire, rebar, motorcycle helmets, metal pipes, cables, closed-circuit television, car batteries, clothing and blanket were among the substandard imports returned in H1," Financial Tribune quoted him as saying.
