Exports From E. Azarbaijan Top $1b in 9 Months
EghtesadOnline: East Azarbaijan Province exported 1.6 million tons of commodities worth $1.19 billion in the first nine months of the current fiscal year (March 21-Dec. 21), registering a 40% and 33% growth in tonnage and value respectively compared with last year’s corresponding period.
According to Leili Orangi, an official with East Azarbaijan Customs Offices, the exported commodities from the northeastern Iranian province included plastic products, steel, fruit, grains, milk, confectionery and glassware.
East Azarbaijan had 98 countries as its export destination, the main ones being Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bulgaria, China and Italy.
A total of 229,432 tons of goods worth $692.45 were imported into the province during the same period, down by 38% and 12% in tonnage and value respectively year-on-year, Financial Tribune reported.
The imports were made from 22 countries, mainly Turkey, Germany, the UAE, China, Italy, Japan, Armenia, South Korea, the Netherlands and Belgium. The imported commodities included industrial machinery, tobacco, auto parts, car, wood and wooden products, paper and paperboard, meat and foodstuff.
According to the provincial official, Azerbaijan earned 3.78 trillion rials ($35.34 million) in customs revenues during the nine months to register a 2% decline YOY.
