Sistan-Baluchestan Boosts Exports to Afghanistan, Pakistan
EghtesadOnline: A total of $800 million worth of commodities were exported from Iran's southern Sistan-Baluchestan Province to neighboring countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan, during the 11 months to Feb. 19.
According to Nader Mirshekar, the head of Sistan-Baluchestan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization, exports to Afghanistan stood at $278.3 million to register an 85% growth compared with last year’s corresponding period, IRNA reported.
The figure accounts for 33% of the province’s total exports ($832 million) during the period.
Exports to Afghanistan mainly included cement, dates, cucurbits, apples, chemicals and industrial products, Financial Tribune reported.
Exports to Pakistan witnessed a considerable rise of 153% year-on-year to more than $530.58 million. The main export products included construction materials, dates, cucurbits, apples and ceramics.
