TCCIM to Host Business Forum With Armenia
EghtesadOnline: Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture will host a joint business conference with Armenia on Nov. 25.
The event has been organized with the aim of exploring and identifying economic opportunities in the two neighboring countries to boost commercial exchanges.
Armenian Ambassador to Iran Artashes Toumanian, the head of Iran-Armenia Chamber of Commerce, Hervik Yarijanian, representatives from Armenia’s Foreign Ministry and Armenian businesspeople will attend the conference, TCCIM’s website reported.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani was invited by Yerevan late September to take part in the extended format session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. He was received by Armenian President Armen Sarkissian.
“We are very happy over the current friendly and good relations of Iran and Armenia. The Eurasian Economic Union will make closer this cooperation. Nearly in a month, we will practically enter the stage of creating relations with the EEU. Of course, this cooperation can further strengthen our commercial relations,” Rouhani said.
The president was referring to Iran's recent accession to EEU's trade system. A Preferential Trade Agreement between Iran and Eurasian Economic Union came into effect on Oct. 27.
“The agreement is a prelude to free trade with Eurasia. Preparations for free trade with the bloc will begin after one year of implementation, following which there will be a two-year window to conclude negotiations," Hamid Zadboum, the head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, told Fars News Agency.
Iran and EEU are looking to substantially increase trade, as the two sides signed a three-year provisional agreement on May 17, 2018, for the bloc to welcome Iran into EEU. The arrangement is the first step in implementing free trade between Iran and the five members of the union. It lowers or abolishes customs duties, setting off a three-year process for a permanent trade agreement.
Russia, the block's head, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan are the five members of Eurasian Economic Union—an area as big as 20 million square kilometers that houses 180 million people.
