Largest Lead & Zinc Unit Planned in Kerman
EghtesadOnline: Zarin Holding Company plans to establish Iran's largest lead and zinc production unit in the city of Kuhbanan, in Kuhbanan County of Kerman Province, the CEO of the company Ebrahim Jamili said.
It will have a capacity of 300,000 tons per year and will be built within three phases: 50,000 tons in phase-1, 100,000 tons phase-2, and 150,000 tons in the final stage, Financial Tribune reported.
The project will take 18 months to complete and cost an estimated 20 trillion rials ($149 million), IRNA reported.
More than 90% of the equipment will be provided by domestic manufacturers, Jamili noted, adding that it will create 1,000 jobs.
According to Azizollah Asari, head of the Mines and Metals Development Investment Company, Iran is home to 9% of world’s lead and zinc reserves.
