Tehran, Islamabad Pursue Bolstering Economic Cooperation

Iran and Pakistan emphasized the need for bolstering cooperation in the fields of trade and economy.

EghtesadOnline: Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash, who is accompanying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on a visit to Pakistan, headed to Islamabad as the head of the Iran-Pakistan Joint Economic Commission to discuss the latest advancements of the 21st Iran-Pakistan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission.

On this trip, high-ranking officials from Iran and Pakistan will hold talks in the fields of security, trade, oil, gas, energy, and economic development.

Considering the high capacities of the two countries, $10 billion in bilateral trade will be targeted in this trip, Bazrpash said.

As per a meeting at the Mirjaveh-Taftan Border held last year, the development of road transportation is on the agenda to be pursued during this trip, he added, the website of Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development (MRUD) reported.

During the visit, the implementation of the provisions of the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) for the establishment of joint free zones on the Rimdan-Gabd Border is finalized.

Also, the document of the third meeting of the joint investment committee of the two countries which was previously signed is on the agenda on this trip.

The 21st Iran-Pakistan Joint Economic Commission was held in August 2022 in Islamabad as co-headed by Iran's minister of roads and urban development and Pakistan's minister of commerce. / Tasnim
