EghtesadOnline: Iran has made noticeable progress in honey production, as it rose from 77,000 tons in 2016 to 88,000 tons in 2017, making the country the third biggest honey producer in the world after China and Turkey.

EghtesadOnline: Iran produced some 81,500 tons of honey in the last fiscal year (March 2016-17), registering a 9.1% increase compared to the fiscal 2013-14, a deputy agriculture minister said.

EghtesadOnline: Beekeeping in Iran dates back to 2,000 to 3,000 years, though apiculture as we know it in its modern, industrial form started around three decades ago in Iran. Since then, the number of beekeepers and the amount of honey produced are increasing year by year.

EghtesadOnline: Some 81,500 tons of honey were produced in Iran in the last fiscal year (ended March 20, 2017), says Deputy Agriculture Minister Hassan Rokni, adding that the figure is expected to rise 5.5% to reach 86,000 tons in the current year.
