Iran gave none of its air bases away to any country

EghtesadOnline: Iran’ parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said Iran never gave away any of its bases to any country.

He made the remarks here on Tuesday while addressing the parliament’s open session, reports ILNA.

He said the Russians’ making use of an Iranian air base in the city of Hamedan in west of the country was only temporary done only for fueling purposes.

He said the act required no parliament permissions.

'As I said before in a previous Majlis session,' the Speaker said, 'Iran has given away none of its bases to any country.'

Larijani reiterated that Iranian Consitution forbids giving access to aliens to Iranian bases.

He said based on the Constitution, Iran has done nothing of this kind.

Temporary use of Iranian airbase for anti-terrorism mission by Russian jetfighters ended, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Monday.

'Russia has no base in Iran nor has it deployed (its fighter jets) in our country. It was a temporary mission that ended.'

Defense Minister Brigadier-General Hossein Dehqan had said earlier that the Russian fighter jets used Nojeh Airbase only for fueling or arming in case of necessity.

Iran has no agreement with Russia in this regard, Qassemi said, adding, 'Our relations with Russia are strategic in certain areas and growing over the past several years.'

'We have common views with some countries on certain areas, including on the fight against terrorism about which Iran and Russia have common stand.'
