Rouhani: Iran backing constructive engagement to address crises

EghtesadOnline: The JCPOA is a new strategy and approach for positive and constructive engagement to resolve crises and challenges through peaceful means, says President Hassan Rouhani.

'The Islamic Republic of Iran considers talks and negotiations as the best solution to resolve global and regional conflicts,' President Rouhani said on Saturday addressing the Seventeenth Summit Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), reports IRNA.

'The widespread support offered to the peaceful nuclear program of Iran by the Non-Aligned Movement and its support for the nuclear negotiations played an effective role in guaranteeing the legitimate nuclear rights of Iran and other developing states,' he said during his speech before handing over the rotating presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

'Despite the hostile measures and extensive political and economic pressures on my country under the excuse of the nuclear issue, the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized right from the beginning on holding constructive negotiations,' President Rouhani said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran assumed the rotating presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in 2012 for a four-year term during 16th NAM Summit in Tehran.
