Failure of Syria peace talks indicates lack of US resolve to uproot terrorism

EghtesadOnline: Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday that failure of Syrian peace talks in Lausanne indicated lack of US resolve in campaign against terrorism.

He made the remarks in a meeting with visiting First Vice President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Premysl Sobotka.

Larijani said in the meantime that serious fight with terrorism requires special attention to the cultural roots of the spread of terrorism, reports IRNA.

From the very beginning, Iran believes in the political settlement of Syrian crisis, but, the world powers and their regional allies do not believe in the settlement of the conflict through dialogue and it is one of the main reasons behind failure of the previous peace talks and the recent meeting in Lausanne, Larijani said.

Noting that the US strategy to topple the Syrian legitimate government led to emergence of different terrorist movements in Syria, Larijani said that the Syrian people have to determine their own destiny.

The vice-president of the Senate of the Czech Republic said for his part that Iran is located in the heart of the Middle East and the Czech Republic is in the heart of Europe and therefore cooperation between the two countries would provide both countries with access to markets of other countries.

Sobotka said that launching a direct flight between Tehran and Prague can be effective to promote economic relations and tourism between Iran and the Czech Republic.
