Zarif: Loss of Rafsanjani was loss of essential voice of reason
EghtesadOnline: Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif on Monday described the loss of late Chairman of Expediency Council Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani as the loss of an essential voice of reason for the world.
Twitting hours after the demise of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani, Zarif said, 'The Revolution has lost a towering giant; the nation a dedicated patriot; the world an essential voice of reason. May he rest in peace.'
Ayatollah Rafsanjani, 82, died of cardiac arrest caused by heart attack last night, according to IRNA.
Rafsanjani, a veteran Iranian cleric and politician, had served in different posts in the post-1979 Islamic Revolution era.
He was Iran's president between 1989 and 1997.
