US uncalculated policies major cause of tension in Mideast: Spokesman

EghtesadOnline: Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Saturday that US uncalculated and wrong policies were major causes of volatile situation, tension and instability in the Middle East over the past decades.

According to IRNA, he made the remarks while reacting to tendentious statements made by Commander of the US Central Command Joseph Votel about Iran.

Qasemi further noted that current regional tensions are rooted in the wrong and interfering policies of the US statesmen which are, in turn, resulted from excessive approaches and lack of true understanding of the American rulers about the strategic and volatile region of the Middle East and from incessant support for the Usurper regime of Israel.

The history of the US presence and relations in the ancient and cultural region of the Middle East is full of unwise behaviors coupled with ill intentions, Qasemi said adding that such behaviors are the main reason behind formation of Takfiri terrorism and extremism.

He noted that the emergence of Al-Qaeda, Daesh and Al-Nusra Front as well as other similar terrorisr groups is only a small part of the outcomes of those unwise policies and behaviors which were even clearly admitted by President Donald Trump during his presidential campaign.

Pointing to the bitter history of the moves and adoption of false policies by the US against the nations of the Persian Gulf region, particularly the Iranian nation, over the past decades, Qasemi said that US government as the biggest seller and exporter of arms and advanced military equipment to certain governments in the region played a crucial role in promoting tension, crisis, war mongering and mounting security pressures in certain countries in the Western Asia region.
