Iran, Russia to negotiate boosting nuclear cooperation

EghtesadOnline: Spokesman of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi arrived in Moscow on Tuesday for talks with the officials of the Russian state company Rosatom to promote bilateral nuclear cooperation.

Negotiations between the Iranian delegation and their Russian counterparts will take place within the framework of Tehran-Moscow nuclear cooperation in different areas, IRNA reported.

Following the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which removed obstacles in the way of nuclear cooperation between the two countries, Iran and Russia have jointly undertaken various projects which are to be discussed during the trip.

Unit I of Bushehr power plant has become operational in cooperation with Russia and units II and III have been inaugurated with the participation of Iranian and Russian companies.

Russia is one of the pioneers in the world in building nuclear power plants and most of the countries engaged in constructing atomic power plants are in cooperation with Russian.

Rosatom which encompasses 260 subsidiaries has a share of 40 percent of global enrichment and 17 percent of producing nuclear fuel.
