EghtesadOnline: Iran will never choose to initiate violating the nuclear deal, but any violator of Iranian people's rights would receive 'a due and proportionate response', Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said.

Whether the current US administration is happy or concerned, Iran's nuclear agreement will remain a historic deal in the region and the world, Rouhani said Sunday night, referring to the landmark nuclear agreement Iran and the six major world powers signed in 2015, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), IRNA reported.

'JCPOA is a multi-lateral agreement, backed by the UN Security Council resolution,' he added while speaking in a meeting with the Iranian expatriates residing in the US.

President Hassan Rouhani arrived in New York on Sunday to attend and address the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

JCPOA is like a token for the global peace and security, said the President adding that the nuclear deal 'sent the message to the world that any complicated international issue can be resolved at the negotiation table.'

'The Iranian people proved the world that they have never lied, and won't do so, and always are complied with their commitments,' he added.

'Withdrawal from the JCPOA is no honor, rather it is tantamount to breaching an obvious political commitment of a government,' Rouhani said in an implied reference to the attempts by the US President Donald Trump administration to cancel the nuclear deal.
Iranian people, in compliance with their cultural and religious teachings, will remain committed to its obligations until the other party abides by the deal, he reiterated.

Inviting Iranian expatriates to contribute to 'a more advanced and more honorable Iran on international arena', the President said that as the Iranians residing abroad went to the polling stations on presidential election on May 19, 2017, their responsibility is now to engage with the universities, science and technology parks, as well as being present in economic, trade and investment fields in Iran.

Iran is not limited to geographical borders, rather Iran is anywhere that a number of Iranians are there, he said.

'You supported JCPOA in the US, and today, you can make efforts to protect Iran and Iranian people's rights; the main lobby of Iran are you, the educated, honorable Iranians,' President Rouhani said addressing the Iranian elite living in the US.
