EghtesadOnline: Spokesman for the Iranian Parliament's Presiding Board Behrouz Nemati said on Wednesday that the crisis in Syria should be solved through political means.

Nemati made the remarks on the sidelines of Majlis closed-door session with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on the international Syrian peace talks held in Lausanne, Switzerland.

He also ruled out any “military solution” to the ongoing crisis in Syria, reports IRNA.

Nemati said Zarif had reiterated that the nine participating countries in international Syrian peace talks had had their own political stance regarding the ongoing crisis in this Arab country.

He quoted Zarif as saying that Iran also had reiterated its own stance about Syria in Lausanne peace talks.

Nemati underscored that military solution could not settle the Syrian nation's problems because the outcome of the war is massacre of hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

He added stopping the clashes, establishing ceasefire and dispatching relief aid to Syrian people were among other issues discussed in the session.

Zarif attended Majlis closed-door session on Wednesday to brief the lawmakers on the international Syrian peace talks held in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Lausanne talks on Syria were held in participation by foreign ministers of Russia, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, United States, as well as UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Oct 15.

The four-hour long round of talks aimed at putting an end to the crisis in Syria but it ended without even the release of a joint statement by its participants.
