Qeshm Airport joins Int'l Airports Council

EghtesadOnline: Managing Director of Qeshm International Airport Company said that the airport has joined Airports Council International (ACI) in a bid to improve the quality of services rendered to passengers and use the economic advantages of the airport.

Mojtaba Shams-Nejad told reporters that the ACI was formed with the aim to commercialize airports and improve service level and now with 27 years background it has 1,751 members from 174 countries, IRNA reported.

The official said that ACI is handling 95 percent of total aerial traffic passengers of the world through its member airports and is shuttling 7.5 billion passengers annually.

He added that by holding specialized training courses and promotion of scientific level and capabilities of colleagues and expert consultations in the field of commercialization of the airport, effective steps will be taken.

Shams-Nejad said in the first seven months of the Iranian year 1,439 flights have been conducted in the airport which in comparison with the same period of preceding year had no tangible changes.

In this period 264,363 passengers have shuttled from this airport, which shows 14 percent growth as compared with the same period of last year.

Qeshm includes islands of Qeshm, Hormuz, Hengam and Larak with 150,000 populations in south Hormuzgan province.
