Iran, Russia, Turkey send joint letter to UN Secretary-General

EghtesadOnline: Russia, Iran and Turkey sent a joint letter to UN Secretary- General Antonio Guterres, demanding to release the recent Sochi joint statement on Syria as a UNSC document.

The joint letter was signed by Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to United Nations Gholamali Khoshroo, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya and Turkey's Ambassador to the UN Feridun Sinirlioglu, according to ISNA.

At a joint statement, the presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey reaffirmed their determination to continue active collaboration among these three countries with a view to establishing peace and stability in Syria.

They also acknowledged that the “Astana format” and its achievements in reducing violence, creating the de-escalation have become an effective instrument for contributing to peace and stability in Syria.

The presidents expressed the hope that the progress in solving Syrian crisis achieved through cooperation of Iran, Russia and Turkey would have a positive effect on the overall situation in the region and reduce the risk of ethnic and sectarian divide.

The president decided to meet again as needed.
