Larijani Appointed as Iran’s Top Security Official

The Iranian president appointed Ali Larijani as the new secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran.
In a decree issued on Tuesday, President Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted Larijani’s extensive commitment, background, and management experience.
The president also underscored the critical importance of Larijani's role in ensuring the effective execution of the council's responsibilities. He emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation among related agencies and called on the new secretary to prioritize and monitor vital national security issues, particularly emerging and technological threats.
The president urged Larijani to redefine strategic concepts and adopt a thoughtful and people-centered approach aligned with the national security framework.
Pezeshkian said such a strategy aims to implement the general policies and directives of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and focus on achieving sustainable security at national, regional, and international levels, the president’s official website reported.
Pezeshkian also expressed confidence in Larijani's capability to lead the council effectively and insisted that all national security matters be addressed exclusively through the secretariat.
Additionally, the president acknowledged the valuable contributions of former SNSC secretary Ali Akbar Ahmadian during his tenure, expressing gratitude for his dedicated service to the nation./tasnim
