Saudi officials’ reckless words have negative consequences

EghtesadOnline: Iran didn’t seek to increase tensions with Saudi Arabia, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi stressed.

“We don’t seek to increase tensions with Saudi Arabia and as I said before we are ready to negotiate with Riyadh. We hope they realize their mistakes and to act in order to compensate for past mistakes,” he said.

“Dialogue and mutual understanding with each country doesn’t constitute endorsement of its behaviors or attitudes. Saudi Arabia has made strategic mistakes in the region and should compensate them,” ISNA quoted Ghasemi as saying.

“Turkish officials informed us about their idea. The wall will be built in Turkey’s territory not in border’s zero point. We welcome any action that can preserve stability and security of borders,” he said about Turkey’s decision to build a wall along Iran border.

Over Iran’s foreign policy, Ghasemi said: “Iran advocates peace, security and fighting against terrorism. We have spared no efforts to tackle terrorism over the past years and other countries that claim fighting against terrorism should follow Iran’s policy to prove their honesty”.

“We have repeatedly stressed that Saudi officials’ reckless words are not effective and will have negative consequences,” the spokesman emphasized.

Ghasemi congratulated Emmanuel Macron on his election as the new president of France and expressed hope that Tehran-Paris long-standing ties be developed and deepened more than before.
