Isfahan: Iran’s Turkey Meat Production Hub
EghtesadOnline: Isfahan Province produces 11,000 tons of turkey meat every year, which accounts for 40% of Iran’s total production.
According to Ali Dehqani, a local official, Isfahan is Iran’s biggest turkey meat production hub, IRNA reported.
The official noted that currently 120 turkey production units are operating in the central province.
“At present, Iran’s per capita turkey meat consumption stands at 400 grams per year, which is way below the European and American annual average of 4 and 7 kilograms respectively.”
Isfahan ranks first in Iran in annual production of milk (1.443 tons) and ornamental fish (67.5 million); second in chicken (200,000 tons), eggs (105,000 tons), ostrich meat (around 1,000 tons) and onion (390,000 tons); third in greenhouse products (302,000 tons), potato (528,000 tons), honey (1,300 tons) and mushrooms (13,000 tons); and fourth in apple (277,000 tons) and red meat (70,000 tons).
