Malaysia Backs Iran’s Bid for Emergency OIC Meeting on Gaza
The foreign minister of Malaysia hailed Iran’s push for an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to address the crisis in Gaza and put an end to the humanitarian catastrophe ahead of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
EghtesadOnline: In a telephone conversation on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Malaysian counterpart Mohamad Hasan talked about a range of bilateral, regional and international issues.
Discussing plans to promote relations between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur, the two ministers also talked about the crisis in Palestine.
The Iranian foreign minister pointed to his call for an extraordinary meeting of the OIC, expressing hope that it would help stop the genocide and address the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza before Ramadan, which will start on March 12.
For his part, the Malaysian diplomat welcomed the idea of an OIC emergency meeting, saying Malaysia is resolved to ensure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He also appreciated Iran’s efforts to resolve the Gaza crisis.
