Gilan Cooperatives Export $3m Worth of Goods in Q1
EghtesadOnline: Atotal of 2,143 tons of commodities worth $3 million were exported by Gilan Province’s cooperatives during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21-June 21), showing a 157% rise in value compared with the similar period of last year, according to the director general of the northern province’s Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Organization.
“Our main exported products were textile, tuna, different kinds of food products, bags and footwear dispatched mainly to Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Georgia, Russia, Azerbaijan and China,” Abbas Alizadeh was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
According to the official, over 2,400 cooperatives are active in Gilan with close to 202,000 members.
“These cooperatives, in which 10.63 trillion rials [$41.69 million] were invested, have so far created 40,200 direct jobs in the province,” he added.
