News ID: 748986

He made the remarks in a meeting with Sweden Ambassador Mattias Lentz during which the ambassador delivered his credentials to the president.

According to IRNA, Rouhani said that Iran and Sweden enjoy excellent relations on political, trade, industrial and transportation fields, and hoped for boosting relations between two countries despite US illegal sanctions.

Appreciating Sweden's stance to save the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he said Iran complies with its commitments.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will also continue its inspection on Iran's peaceful nuclear activities, he added.

Reduction of some parts of Iran's commitments was in the framework of the JCPOA, he said, adding that Iran will return to its commitments if other parties come back to JCPOA and lift sanctions.

Rouhani said that US economic sanctions are against the International Law, UN Security Council Resolution 2231 requiring to lift the international sanctions on Iran.

Meanwhile, Lentz said today economic activists and companies consider Iran as an honest partner.

Both sides will be able to continue cooperation in political, trade, economic, scientific and academic fields more than ever, he noted.

He noted that Sweden stands by Iran with regard to recent developments in the region and is ready for establishing cooperation in reducing regional tensions.

Sweden has always supported Iran deal, he said urging all sides to comply with their commitments.

He also slammed US unilateral sanctions against Iran, saying sanctions have brought about many problems.
