In a message to a national congress held in commemoration of women martyrs, Ayatollah Khamenei praised the reportedly 17,000 Iranian women who have been martyred, handicapped or imprisoned during the 1980-88 Iraq-imposed war for displaying one of the major pinnacles of the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic’s glory, Leader.ir reported.
The Leader also highlighted the faith, devotion and courage displayed by Iranian women in various areas, from their contribution to the 1979 Revolution and the Sacred Defense, where they fought and made sacrifices alongside their sons and husbands, to their active presence in the fields of science, technology, research, literature and arts.
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to women’s devoted healthcare services amid the dangerous conditions arising from the coronavirus pandemic, which is the most recent example of Iranian women’s selfless contribution.
