EghtesadOnline: Visiting Vice President for Legal Affairs Majid Ansari said Iranian and Cuban nations have been able to gain outstanding achievements, it was reported on Monday.

Talking to Cuban media, Ansari made the remarks in a ceremony commemorating the demise of Cuban leader Fidel Castro in Havana, IRNA reported.

Ansari also expressed condolences to the Cuban people and government over the sad occasion, adding the Iranian and Cuban revolutions bear considerable similarities.

He underscored that the Cuban youth would continue the path of their great leaders such as the 'Jose Marti' and 'Fidel Castro' with determination and loyalty.

Jose Marti was a Cuban national hero and an important figure in Latin American literature. In his short life, he was a poet, an essayist, a journalist, a revolutionary philosopher, a translator, a professor, a publisher, and a political theorist.

Former president and leader of Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro died at 90 on Nov 26.

Castro was a Cuban politician and revolutionary who governed the Republic of Cuba as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1976 and then as President from 1976 to 2008.
