'There are various grounds such as steel industries, ship building and varieties of mines in the province which create good opportunity for the expansion of mutual cooperation between the two sides,' Whitehead said in a meeting with Deputy Governor General of Hormuzgan Province Behrouz Akrami in Bandar Abbas on Wednesday.

According to IRNA, Akrami said that Bandar Abbas is regarded an important economic corridor and for that reason South Africa would like to sign sisterhood accord between Durban port in South Africa and Hormuzgan province to help speed up economic cooperation between the two sides.

'Grounds for expansion of agricultural cooperation between the two sides are also well- prepared,' the ambassador said.

Akrami, for his part, welcomed expansion of economic cooperation between the two sides.

The location of the province in the vicinity of the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman, expert workforces and high security have turned the region best option for commerce and investments, he said.

To broaden level of economic cooperation, Akrami called for exchange of visits between the two sides businessmen and traders.
