Electricity Generation Capacity of Iran’s Wind Power Plants to Rise 5.5-Fold in 2 Years

The head of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran (SATBA) said the electricity generation capacity of the wind power plants in the country will increase 5.5-fold in the next two years.

EghtesadOnline: Mahmoud Kamani said the Ministry of Energy in the administration of the late President Ebrahim Raisi has targeted to construct 30,000-megawatt renewable power plants by the end of the 7th Five-Year Socioeconomic and Cultural Development Plan.

Generation of electricity from wind energy is one of the most important sources of renewable energy, he stated, IRNA reported.

Currently, the electricity generation capacity of the renewable power plants constructed in the country at over 1,195 megawatts, 366.31 megawatts of which is the share of the wind power plants, he added.

After the Mil Nader 50-megawatt power plant, located at 80-km of Zabol County, Sistan and Balouchestan province, was recently inaugurated, the electricity generation capacity of the wind power plant in the country exceeded 366 megawatts, Kamani stated. / Tasnim
