Caretaker FM Lauds Amirabdollahian’s Successful Policies

Caretaker Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Baqeri paid tribute to late Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian for his effective and fruitful endeavors in the diplomatic field.

EghtesadOnline: In an interview with Tasnim during the funeral of Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran on Thursday, Baqeri said the late minister’s policies yielded important results that have benefited Iran during the past three years.

When Amirabdollahian took office in 2021, Iran’s relations with a number of neighbors were strained or severed, but his fruitful measures during the past three years eased the tensions and stabilized the good neighborliness policy as a principal and genuine matter, the caretaker foreign minister said.

The fact that many foreign officials, even the foreign minister of Egypt with which formal political relations have not been yet established, came to Tehran for the funeral of Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi indicated that the late diplomat’s views and policies have been fruitful, Baqeri added.

He also noted that the Foreign Ministry’s responsibilities have increased and become heavier after the massive turnout in the funeral of the late foreign minister and president proved the close bonds between the nation and state, which guarantees that there will be no threat to the future of the people and establishment.

A helicopter carrying President Raisi and his entourage crashed in northwestern mountainous forests on May 19, killing the president, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, Friday prayers leader of Tabriz Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Al-e-Hashem, Governor of East Azarbaijan Malek Rahmati, the commander of the president’s security team, two pilots and a flight crew.

Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian was laid to rest in the shrine of Shah-Abdol-Azim (AS) in Shahr-e Rey, south of Tehran, on Thursday after a funeral service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended by senior diplomats and ministry officials. / Tasnim
