Iran’s Caretaker FM Goes to Lebanon

Caretaker Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Baqeri has traveled to Lebanon for a series of political talks.

EghtesadOnline: The Iranian diplomat left Tehran for Beirut on Monday morning to hold talks with the Lebanese officials about the relations between the two Muslim states.

Baqeri is also expected to discuss the regional and international issues, including the latest developments in Palestine.

Baqeri has been appointed as the caretaker minister after the passing away of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian.

A helicopter carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his entourage crashed in northwestern mountainous forests on May 19, killing the president, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, and six others.

Last week, Acting President of Iran Mohammad Mokhber gave an assurance that Tehran’s backing for Palestinian resistance groups would by no means falter after the loss of the president.

In comments at a press conference on May 27, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said one of the fundamental principles of Iran’s foreign policy is providing support for the Palestinian people and resistance groups, noting that this unshakable approach won’t change after the recent loss of the president and foreign minister. / Tasnim
