Livestock Zoonotic Infections Down 38 Percent

EghtesadOnline: Cases of livestock infections causing zoonotic diseases such as rabies, brucellosis, anthrax, foot and mouth disease and lumpy skin disease fell by 38% during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21-July 22), compared with the similar period of last year, the head of Iran Veterinary Organization said.

Alireza Rafieipour also told IRNA that due to preventive and hygienic measures taken by IVO, the figure had also dropped by 22% last year compared with the year before. Zoonoses are infectious diseases that can be transmitted to humans by animals (usually vertebrates), according to Financial Tribune.
