Rouhani: Iran to continue support for Iraq to fight terrorism

EghtesadOnline: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the country would continue to stand by Iraqi nation in the course of defending holy Islamic shrines and fighting terrorism in the neighboring country.

According to ISNA, Rouhani in a meeting with visiting Chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) Ammar Hakim here in Tehran, stressed internal unity and solidarity of all Iraqi political and religious streams and tribes, and said the recent victories of Iraqi nation and government over terrorists is a very considerable achievement.

He also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran would stand by Iraqi nation and government in the course of defending Islamic holy shrines and fighting terrorism in Iraq.

Rouhani also said developing and widening bilateral ties between Tehran and Baghdad would be in favor of the two nations and regional nations as well.

Ammar Hakim, for his part, said liberating the city of Fallujah occupied by the ISIL Takfiri terrorists has been the result of unity and coordination of all Iraqi political, public and military forces, and stressed the coordination until complete annihilation of terrorism and clearing the remaining areas from terrorists.
