Iran, Russia, Azeri presidents vow to cooperate in line with UN Charter

EghtesadOnline: Islamic Republic of Iran President Hassan Rouhani, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azeri President Ilham Aliyev in a joint statement released in Baku on Monday vowed to cooperate in line with the Charter of the United Nations for settlement of the disputes.

According to IRNA, the statement underlined mutual and tripartite initiatives to help settlement of the disputes in the region through negotiations in line with the Charter of the United Nations.

The three presidents called for comprehensive cooperation for consolidation and development of political dialogue among them and the entire region.

Cooperation in fields of tourism, cultural issues, trade, the youth affairs, facilitating visa formality, consular services and easing trade tariffs to help free trade as well as cooperation among border provinces to develop border trade.

They called for cooperation on campaign against terrorism, extremism, the organized crimes, unlawful trade of weapons, drug and human trafficking and information technology related crimes.

The statement highlighted the World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) initiative put forward by President Hassan Rouhani to the United Nations and approved by the UN General Assembly, calling for the settlement of regional conflicts through diplomatic talks. 

The three presidents encouraged finalization of Caspian Sea legal regime and enhanced economic, banking, technological, energy, environmental and transit cooperation among Tehran, Moscow and Baku.

The three presidents underlined implementation of the nuclear deal reached between Iran and G5+1 on November 14, 2015, calling it an important document to secure international peace and security.

They called for promotion of regional trade and enhancement of economic cooperation in the region.
