$400 million part of money US must pay for refusal to deliver military supplies

EghtesadOnline: Dlrs 400 million the US paid is part of the money the US must pay to Iran for refusal to deliver military supplies Iran ordered before the Islamic Revolution, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Monday.

Shamkhani said that receipt of 400 million dollars from the United States is part of the money the US must pay to Iran as per the ruling of Iran-US Claims Tribunal and has nothing to do with the nuclear deal struck on November 24, 2015 and took effect in January 2016, reports IRNA.

He noted that after the 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran, the Iranian government took legal action to take back its frozen assets from US and Islamic Republic is pursuing the case by Iran-US Claims Tribunal in The Hague.

Paying the money after the nuclear deal was just a coincidence, he said, noting that the US now has to pay an extra $1.310 billion in addition to the 400 million dollars it paid to Iran.

Iran prefers not to go to the details of the file in order to let the US presidential candidates further reveal their true character in the election campaign, Shamkhani added.

He said that US presidential candidates remarks on delivering faulty TOW missiles to Iran by ex-CIA agent Robert C. McFarlane is an example of the US cheating in the course of Iraqi-imposed war 1980-1988.

US proved that it is not trustworthy, Shamkhani added.
