Iran to build refinery in Indonesia

EghtesadOnline: Feasibility study is underway for a contract to build refinery in Indonesia as per a demand made by Indonesian Minister of Petroleum, Deputy Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Company Gholam-Reza Manouchehri said on Monday.

According to IRNA, Manouchehri said that the deal envisions feasibility study in Ab Teymour and Mansoor oil fields by the Indonesian company.

Europe and the Asian states have called for promotion of ties with Iran in energy and to this end, level of oil cooperation with Indonesia, which is the most populous Muslim country, will expand.

Indonesia which used to be Iranian oil customer prior to sanctions has resumed oil purchase from Iran and is to cooperate with Iran in the refining and power plant sectors.

After inking of a Memorandum of Understanding by National Iranian Oil Company and Indonesian state-owned oil and natural gas corporation Pertamina on Monday,

Manouchehri said the MoU will be implemented with one or two parts and then it will be expanded as per the contract.

Pertamina will have six months to study different aspects of the project and announce decision.

Manouchehri said the Indonesian party might abandon the tender or continue with it and enter the next phase.
'So, within the six months, Pertamina will continue contacts with NIOC and exchange information to reach conclusion on the capacity and availability of the reserves and bringing about proper mechanisms for their development.'
