A Russian top Foreign Ministry official told ITAR-TASS News Agency that the American officials have to study Resolution 2231 more carefully.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the articles of the UN resolution have nothing to do with enhanced anti-terrorist cooperation between Iran and Russia, reports IRNA.
Taking advantage of Resolution 2231 to hamper Tehran-Moscow cooperation, which is purely aimed at undermining terrorist groups in Syria, and accusing Russia of violating the security council resolution is a baseless charge, the official said.
In an interview with IRNA on Tuesday, Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of the Iran's Supreme National Security Council, announced an agreement between Tehran and Moscow to broaden anti-terrorist cooperation.
The US administration has claimed that Iran-Russia cooperation against terrorist groups in Syria may amount to violation of Resolution 2231.
