Iran ranks 23rd in Rio 2016 Olympic Games day 15

EghtesadOnline: The silver medal of the Iranian freestyle wrestler Komeil Qasemi boosted Iran's standing in the 23rd ranking in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games medal table on Saturday.

Iranian squad snatched its eighth medal of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games as Ghasemi won silver in the men’s 125kg weight category, reports IRNA.

Qasemi defeated Canada’s Korey Jarvis, Egypt's Kamal Abdelmottaleb, Georgia's Geno Petriashvili and American Tervel Dlagnev but lost 3-1 to Turkey’s Taha Akgul and took the silver medal in final.

Iranian weightlifters Kianoush Rostami and Sohrab Moradi and Iranian freestyle wrestler Hassan Yazdani won gold medals of these Olympic Games for Iran.

Greco Raman style wrestlers Saeid Abdevali and Qhasem Rezaei as well as Iranian freestyle wrestler Hassan Rahimi and Iranian Taekwondo sportswoman Kimia Alizadeh Zenoorin won Iran's bronze medals.

Currently, the US with 43 gold, 37 silver and 36 bronze medals ranks first in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games medal table.

Meanwhile, UK with 27 gold, 22 silver and 17 bronze medals ranks second and China with 26 gold, 18 silver and 26 bronze medals, ranks third of the table.
